County Finals

Good luck Lils and all the Suffolk Team in County Finals Week

The English Senior’s‘Champion of Champions’

The English Senior’s‘Champion of Champions’ Tournament was played at Woodhall Spa Golf Club, on the weekend of 16/17th September with 29 counties represented.
Suffolk were represented by their Senior’s Champion, Paul Whiting, from Bungay & Waveney Valley Golf Club. Paul shot rounds of 81 and 86 for a 21 over par total of 167, which saw him finish tied 23rd.
The weekend was hampered by torrential rain on Saturday, which caused play to be suspended for 1 1/2 hours, due to flooded greens.
The photograph shows Paul by the main scoreboard.

Haskell Semi Final

Lils and Sam travelled over to Stowmarket Golf Club for the Semi Final against Ipswich. Knowing they were the underdogs, they could relax and enjoy the game, playing the Suffolk Vice Captain Sharon and a regular 1st Team player Abbie.
The morning round was won by Ipswich 3up with each side matching each other shot for shot, but Ipswich had some long putts drop whilst Bungay lipped out.
Going into the afternoon round Lils and Sam found themselves 5 down after 7, they battled hard to pull it back and with a massive tee shot from Lils on the 15th and a great chip from Sam got back to 2 down going onto the 16th.
Two drives onto a sloping fairway from Sam and Sharon gave Lils and Abbie a tricky uphill shot into a blind green. Sadly another putt that looked into the hole that didn't drop meant the match went to Ipswich.
Thanks to the caddies Belinda and Steve and everyone that came across and supported Lils and Sam.
