100 Club

Joining & Renewals

The 100 Club last year was very well supported and we thank you all. Congratulations to all our lucky winners with several fortunate enough to win the top prize more than once. The excess raised has been put towards the Swing Clinic which will benefit all members.
It is now time for you all to renew. As the Pro Shop and Clubhouse are currently closed, cash payments cannot be taken, so if you wish to renew please pay your £10.00 via Bank Transfer, please use your name as reference.

The closing date is 31st January and the 1st draw will take place on Tuesday 9th February.

We have several members with multiple numbers, if you are unsure of how many numbers you have contact Sam who has the members list.

This year the profits will be put towards refurbishing and modernisation of the Bar.

New members to the Club are always welcome and if you would like to be a member of the 100 Club email your name and send your payment to Sam Cooper, and a number will be allocated to you.

We have six draws over the year with the top prize being £100.

Club AGM

Monday 14th December

Thank you to all the members that voted and to those that attended the Zoom AGM. Apologies to those that had difficulty logging on.

Our Captain's will remain for another year, fingers crossed they have an easier time.

Congratulations to the three members that were voted onto the Board, Ian MacKenzie, Debbie Jary and Alan Graham, commiserations to those that were unsuccessful this time.

Swing Clinic & Putting Lab

Update

The wheels are all now back in motion to carry on with the work to convert upstairs into a Swing Clinic and Putting Lab. We have all the tradesman in place, working behind the scenes. As a Club we are extremely lucky to have members that have donated materials, their time and expertise. The external works with the concrete pads, stairs and doorways will be done first, then our team of sparky's, plasterers, carpenters and decorators will crack on inside.
Watch this space for updates.. if you wish to become a 'Friend' donations are still being taken, contact Chris or Trevor.

Happy Birthday Tony

Today Bungay & Waveney Valley Golf Club celebrated the 95th birthday with one of it's long standing members.

The ‘Oldest Swinger in Town’? Club President, Trevor Bond, and Men’s Captain, Bill Carson, presented an engraved wedge to Tony Snook today on his 95th birthday. Tony has been a member since January 1969 and was Club Captain in 1977. He is now an Honorary Life Member and still plays two or three times a week, always walking! Tony is a real gentleman, with a kind word for everyone and always wearing a smile on his face. The second photo is Tony with his regular playing partners Sam Ralph, Roger Tuffley and Paul Auckland who also presented Tony with a bottle of his favourite Scotch.

Tony has had a varied and extraordinary life. He was married to his beloved wife Mary for 67 years before she sadly passed away some four years ago. He played to a high standard of cricket and knew the likes of Colin Cowdery and played in the Bournemouth area for a number of years. Those skills transferred to golf where he always drives up the middle and his putting is exemplary. Of late he complains about his right hand restricting his swing, but we notice that he can still raise a pint of ale with ease at the 19th!

We also can’t overlook his contribution to our country in World War II. As a young lad of 17 years he joined Bomber Group 3, Squadron 115 Mildenhall Hub as a rear gunner in a Lancaster and was stationed at various aerodromes in the East and North of England.

Tony is a remarkable gentleman and a great asset to Bungay Golf Club and we all wish him many more years of friendship and playing golf with us.

News Flash

Swing Room Update

Great news, we have now received planning permission and are currently waiting on confirmation from building regulations.

Hopefully we can start up with this project again soon.

Safety Reminder

Fog

Could we please remind all members and guests, of the Club rules when it comes to fog.

If your tee off time is before (or after) the Pro Shop opens and it's foggy, YOU MUST be able to see the trees at the BACK of the 1st green before it is safe to play.
If play is delayed once it is safe to do so, you go out in tee time order.

We still have lots of people walking on the course, that are unaware of the dangers following the shutdown, so we as members have to be more even more vigilante.
