Designed by the 5 times Open Champion James Braid and opened for play in 1889, the course plays well all year round, coming to its fore in the winter months. At 6,055 yards the course is not overly long but with five par 4s of over 400 yards and only one par 5, the par of 69 is a challenge attested by the professional course record of 64. Characterised by well drained fairways, small undulating greens, often sloping back to front, and beautiful views of the Waveney Valley it is well named the “Hidden Jewel of Suffolk”
The course can be played from any one of five tees
